Manish is an accomplished telecom industry veteran with more than 25 years of leadership experience across numerous Fortune 100 companies. He has led technology initiatives that sought to transform business and increase enterprise value around the world, including developing end-to-end technology solutions and creating and managing strategic partnerships.

“With the adoption of AI, Gen AI, Open RAN, Digital BSS/OSS stack, Open Network APIs, Satellite Communications, and the anticipation of 6G, we are poised for the next phase of innovation and transformation,” says Manish via a LinkedIn post. “I foresee a convergence across Network and IT systems, enabling us to achieve unparalleled operational efficiency while meeting the evolving demands of B2C, B2B, and Wholesale customer segments.”

He adds: “I am eager to collaborate with our partners and the incredible TechMighties as we craft and execute the next generation of Telco transformation roadmaps.”

Redefining the modern telco

Manish is also an expert in analysing industry trends, assessing threats and opportunities and developing fact-based actionable plans that are targeted towards business leaders and CEOs to increase enterprise value.

His role within telecoms has been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of the industry and has seen him earn 60 patents from the US patent office.

In his current role as the Global Business Unit Head of 5G and Network Services at Tech Mahindra, he heads up global sales, solutions and delivery teams. This area of the organisation is committed to helping Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and business customers unlock the value of their network assets by simplifying operations, modernising their tech stacks and enabling monetisation through new revenue streams.

Manish’s career highlights include pivotal roles in technology for companies such as Reliance Jio as SVP of Network Planning & Engineering and President of Reliance Jio USA, in addition to his role in steering the Technology Development & Architecture organisation at Sprint (now T-Mobile).

These experiences cemented his pledge to innovation-driven leadership and the future of the technology industry. Having worked with the complexities of cloud-native disaggregated open architecture or utilising AI and machine learning in 5G, Manish prides himself on thriving best when he pushes the boundaries of innovation.

Capitalising on AI technology to advance connectivity

As telcos seek to transform their network infrastructure, new technologies like AI are becoming attractive solutions to speed up progress.

In an exclusive interview with Mobile Magazine at MWC2024 in Barcelona, Manish explains how telcos can simplify operations to modernise their technology stacks, reduce costs and harness AI to improve network operations.

“I think this is the era of AI,” he remarks. “What we have done really is take advantage of AI and apply it towards the different parts of the telco industry. We have a variety of ideas and innovation and solutions that really drive the use of AI.

“It's very clear that as the 5G deployment has taken shape, the ability to now transform the cost structure for the day-to-day operations of the network becomes a very high priority,” he states. “This is where tools like AI come into the picture.

“It is very exciting to see the industry is still very vibrant, very active and the use of the new technology is absolutely amazing.”
